Can you tell us about your book, Into the Light, in 45 words or less?
Into the Light is about Aubrey Miller who, due to the death of her family, masks her appearance to keep people away. In college she meets three special people who give the courage to face her inner self and eventually shine through her manufactured darkness.
What was your favorite scene to write?
There are so many. But one of my favorites is a scene in which Aubrey loses herself once again in her fear after coming so close to accepting person she used to be. It’s an emotional scene where her love interest is forced to let her go, realizing that no matter how much he wants her to stay for him, she needs to wade through her darkness alone and find her own way.
What was the hardest scene to edit out?
I didn’t really edit out any scenes, but the one that gave me the most difficulty was the death of her father. I really went back and forth a lot with my beta readers, trying to give the scene enough power to show the reader why Aubrey morphed into her darkened alter ego Raven without overwhelming them.
What theme song would you give Into the Light?
I would say Time, by Battleme. It reminds of a girl who is caged in her own fear and unable to fly.

What else are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on a new YA novel, titled We, the Wildflowers. It’s about four friends with troubled pasts, who find root in their friendship and begin to bloom.
What is the best book you’ve read recently?
The last book I could not stop raving about was The Bird and the Sword by Amy Harmon. Her writing is absolutely breathtaking and I’m a HUGE fan of anything she writes.
What is currently in your TBR pile?
Gah. So many books. I would say the number one on my TBR is The Chosen by J.R. Ward. I’m a HUGE fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and cannot wait to see what’s in store.
